Back Yard Bible Clubs
By: Kim Chez
This year was our family’s third year hosting a backyard Bible club. Once again, it proved to be an amazing fun experience for our kids, and a terrific way to get to know our neighbors, while sharing the Good News.
We had three leaders…two college students and one high school student (Sana and Laura Solt and Melanie Kaufman). It is such a joy for me to see them modeling their passion for Christ through the games, crafts, and lessons. I know my kids look up to them! They also showed patience and love to the kids as we had some “active” boys.
The kids enjoyed games such as “toilet tag” and “trash in the neighbor’s yard.” They also had fun “finding the sheep,” decorating cookies and slip n’ sliding. Lessons were on The Lost Sheep, The Pearl of Great Price, the parable of the Treasure in the Field, and the Parable of the
Lost Son.
As a host, it was as easy as ever. All I did was invite the kids, and provide the snack. The leaders did all the rest, which freed me up to talk with parents as they dropped the kids off and picked them up. All the parents were very thankful that we hosted and shared how much their children enjoyed the week.
I think the greatest joy is seeing the kids having a blast and knowing they are associating that fun with learning about Christ and witnessing with others. We look forward to hosting for many more years!
